Hard Times Affecting Friendships

A Friend’s Estrangement

What troubles you dear friend that you seem like a stranger?
In recent times, you’re no longer the person you use to be.
We’d share times together, lots.

I don’t know how to say this:
It’s like you have more times for problems than for me
Because you’re often occupied with them
It’s like playing ‘hide and seek’

For sometimes you’re there and sometimes you’re not
In recent times those are lots.
You don’t open up to me with the happy and the sad
You seem so distant, somewhat estranged.
It seems that problems have taken more ground

Those happy moments no longer resound
Of the glad times we had before things went bad.
You used to pick yourself up with a sense of humor.
We’d laugh together and share happy moments.

Seems like something’s taken over you
It competes with me for your attention
Is there no more retention of the happy times we had
In your memories – the joyful and the glad?

It seems you are so distant with this ‘hide and seek’
For sometimes you’re there and sometimes you’re not.

This confusing picture of the friend I used to have
Where we could share together the happy and the sad
And there are no more often those things that make us glad.

I feel for you dear friend.
