Once Valued Friends

The following are Poems I wrote in 2022 when a very Good Friend who thought much alike about many things took offense over something small she did not allow me to explain. She decided to opt out of friendship and did not contact me again. I wrote several Poems while I was processing things. They are on this website to help others because sometimes we can relate with someone’s experience – they could be of some benefit.

Good Friends Now Strangers

You have closed our phone calls and your door
I know by your silence it would be a chore.
To make even a closure for one’s composure.
Why such a decision from someone so mature.
Our friendship was not one you had to endure,
For we had our laughs.
Each one played a part.
In a precious union.
Now it would be an intrusion.
To pick up a phone call you once enjoyed.
Courtesy now you would not employ.
For your silence speaks volumes.
It has been a month,
the freedom the friendship we had once.
If I had but a moment I could explain.
It had nothing to do with you.
It is something I was going through.
You never had such an occasion before.
Now you have closed that door.
The one to your heart.
We should now start a way to better things.
Friendship not to fling out the window when one mopes.
True friendship is built for mountain slopes.

Yes, Let’s Call It A Day

What is this silence of your absence good friend?
I made one mistake now it’s too late.
Your silence is final without even a trial.
You have given resignation,
not even someone for mediation.
You have thrown in your papers and said that’s enough.
Even though our friendship wasn’t tough.
You have given up that freedom.
Interests we had in common.
And those achievements.
The freedom you had in expressing yourself.
I don’t think you have even left it on a shelf.
Yes you make it so final
without even a trial.
You knew not the reason for my mistake.
I was not myself but judgment remains.
Yes your judgment was swift.
Not even permitting an explanation.
Not even someone for mediation,
things have ended up in a tiff.
We are two grown women with much wisdom learned.
Through the years and now this turn.
Why did you not even ask someone to hear me
for our friendship’s sake?
Yes, let’s call it a day.
